The only one of its kind. Unique. Solid Blue opal carving Ring. The setting is Silver with gold filled shank. The Opal is from lightning Ridge and is a piece of semi black opal Crystal, it has a very sweet blue fire which is multi-directional. There are some sand spots evident and it looks like , in my opinion, he is having a little dribble from the mouth area.
I finally got around to giving this little guy his own setting I was racing into the night to finish the setting I heard a little scrinch crunch and alas he lost an arm. So as he was going to be a river spirit, the background of the river and this blue opal set with two tiny diamonds and now one Ruby, I was reminded of the following:
“an old Irish legend tells of a boat race where the prize was the kingdom of Ulster and the victor was the first to “touch the shore.” O’Neill, seeing his boat slip behind, cut off his hand, flung it ashore, and won the kingdom.”
I thought it’s very apt to name this little ring’ “little red hand man” .
It’s a completely unique cute ring for fans of the series Peaky Blinders which featured the red hand man song by Nick Cave or just fun jewellery to keep for yourself, knowing that it has been made with love.
It is a tiny piece of art and needs to be treated with care, not dropped on hard surfaces and not worn in the sea or in water.
Caring for your Solid Opal Ring
Opal is a soft stone, approximately the same hardness as glass (around 6.5 on Moh’s hardness scale), so it is important to treat your opal carefully in order to avoid damaging it. Remove your opal jewellery if there is a chance it will be scratched or broken (i.e. working in the garden, moving furniture, etc.)
Never allow anyone to clean your opal in an ultrasonic cleaner, as the intense vibrations may cause cracking in a solid opal.
If your stone loses its shine or becomes scratched, bring it back to an opal cutter. After years of wear, small scratches and scuff marks cause an opal to lose its shiny polish and become dull looking.
Don’t shower, bathe or swim with your ring on. Don’t drop it on hard surfaces.
Enjoy your unique, one of a kind beautiful solid opal ring.
